DIY Citrus Coconut Coffee Scrub

Personally, I am not much of a coffee drinker, tea has always been my thing. But I absolutely love the awakening smell of coffee beans! Although I may not drink coffee, I’ve found that it actually makes a lot of great natural beauty products. Coffee is slowly gaining more recognition for its numerous skin benefits. The caffeine found in coffee helps with everything from hiding cellulite to reducing skin redness and calming puffy eyes. And the best part? Coffee is affordable and you can make many of these remedies right at home with just a few ingredients.

Citrus Coffee Scrub

Below is an easy recipe I put together for a Citrus Coconut Coffee Scrub. This is probably my favorite DYI product so far. I use it every morning to exfoliate and brighten my skin – plus the coffee and citrus aromas really wakes me up! It is the perfect all-natural touch up before a pool party or day at the beach – trust me.

What is does:

Reduces redness and puffiness

Exfoliates skin

Tightens skins

Improves skin circulation

Temporarily reduces the appearance of cellulite

What you need:

  • 3/4 cup coffee (You can actually reuse your old coffee grinds as well)
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/2 cup Coconut Oil (melted)
  • 1 tsp of Jojoba Oil
  • 3 drops Lemon Essential Oil
  • 3 drops Orange Essential Oil

How to create:

  • Combine ingredients in jar and mix well.
  • Scrub should be a thick, grainy consistency. If too oily, add in more coffee and coconut sugar.
  • Allow it sit for at least one hour.

***Stores at room temperature for 30 days. For even longer life, store scrub in the refrigerator.

You can use this scrub on your face or body. I recommend using it in the shower as coffee can get a bit messy! Just wet your body and scoop a good amount of the scrub in your hand. Apply the coffee scrub to the entire body OR you can just focus on the areas you want to work on (for me it’s the booty) and allow to sit on skin 2-5 mins. Then exfoliate away! Wash coffee off and allow the smooth oil to stay on the skin. Pat dry. Make sure you take your time, exhale the aromas and enjoy your at home mini spa session.  :-)
