Presidential Sighting!

President Barack Obama paid a visit to the University of Miami on Thursday, February 23rd at the Bank United Center located on the Coral gables campus. Students had been camping out to receive tickets to attend the event since the night before. “We camped out all night, from about 6:30 p.m. previous day and then we got the tickets at 6:30 a.m. Then we came here at 9 a.m.,” said one UM student.

The President spoke about the rising gas prices stating,

“Just like last year, gas prices are climbing across the country, except this time, even earlier. And when gas prices go up it hurts everyone, everyone.”

President Obama also touched on the need of a new energy source,

“We need a sustained, all-of-the-above strategy that develops every available source of American energy – oil, gas, wind, solar, nuclear, bio-fuels, and more.”

The University of Miami, is just one stop on the Presidents campaign tour to visit and speak to college students ensuring them that he cares and wants to help.
