Whiter Teeth With Activated Charcoal? Oh yes

how to use this all natural remedy

In this world of constant photos, snaps and social videos, having a whiter, brighter smile is on everyone’s mind these days. There are so many natural ways to whiten teeth, but a friend of mine saw great success using activated charcoal. After seeing her results after only one week of use,  I decided to give this trend it a try for myself.

How does it work?

Activated charcoal is an extremely absorbent substance that removes toxins when they adhere to the surface of the charcoal.  Activated charcoal is unique because it is not absorbed by the body but instead passes through our GI system. When taken, chemicals and toxins adhere to it, which then pass through the body and are expelled by the digestive system. For this reason, activated charcoal is a great first treatment for any kind of poisoning. But does it actually work for whitening teeth?

Turns out, yes it does!

And my further research revealed that activated charcoal can actually be helpful in changing the pH and health of the mouth and is effective in preventing cavities, killing the bad bacteria present in tooth decay, and slowing gingivitis.

So naturally, I was uber excited to receive an activated charcoal kit from a leader in natural teeth whitening, Bianco Smile. I have to say I was very pleased with their product!

The process is super simple:

  1. Dip a clean, wet toothbrush into the powdered charcoal. I typically use a 360 toothbrush which worked perfectly for this! But be careful, the powder can stain  – I learned this when my toddler knocked over half my jar and ruined my new bathroom mat, shoes and socks.
  2. Quickly put the charcoal covered toothbrush in the mouth and brush in small circles for at least 2 minutes. Your mouth will look extremely black…like scary black lol. You may think it is going to stain your teeth, but don’t worry it won’t!

3. After brushing, add a little water to your mouth and give it a good swish. Then spit and rinse your mouth out very thoroughly.

Tada, you’re all done!

I can promise that your mouth will feel AMAZINGLY clean. Your sink may need some love though, make sure you wash off the charcoal residue right away so it doesn’t stain.

Use can use Bianco Smile as often as needed, I alternate using it with a natural toothpaste and oil pulling. After just a few uses, my teeth were noticeably whiter! You can check out my before and after photos and see the difference for yourself 🙂

Pardon my crazy smile and my shotty bathroom lighting, I just wanted to make sure you could see most of my teeth in the before and after pics! I swear, I don’t normally smile this way lol

If you are thinking about switching to a more natural, healthier alternative to dental care, I highly recommend using activated charcoal. It can get a bit messy, but the result you get are definitely worth it!

***It is important that you note the difference between food grade activated charcoal and other forms of charcoal. Do not use any other form of charcoal beside activated charcoal in your mouth or internally. Do not use leftover charcoal from a BBQ grill or charcoal briquettes, please! And do not use charcoal pencils or any other type of charcoal. You could seriously harm your body if you do.

If you decided to use activated charcoal as a natural whitener that you use a reliable, food grade safe brand like Bianco Smile. You can find Bianco Smile activated charcoal on their website, use code NICKY20 for 20% off your entire purchase.
