Hippie Finds: The Miami Flea in Wynwood

This past Sunday I finally made it out to The Miami Flea! I haven’t been since the very first event about a year ago, and I have to say it has really grown into a spectacular community event. Being that I just did some serious Spring cleaning last month, my closet is looking kinda sad. So I was super excited to finally have some time to go hunting for some new – well, vintage – hippie finds.

It was a super hot day, but the deals were worth the sweat. I honestly didn’t know there would be so many clothing and jewelry vendors. Unfortunately, my budget limited me from going completely ham on all the goodies, but I made out ok with my $60 budget. I really wanted to go crystal crazy, but I refrained purchasing any accessories (I have an addiction) and focused on looking for vintage finds.

Vintage Fringe Shorts

Vintage Daisy Mesh Jacket

One of the first tents I actually made a purchase from was The Heavy Petal, an alternative vintage shop based in Hialeah. This young lady had just a couple racks, but they were golden! In one section everything was just $6, so had to hunt. I found a pair of fringy black stretch shorts that are perfect for festival season. And the shop owner picked out an adorable fitted top to go with it – $6. And I wasn’t alone on the bargains, my friend Amber who I drug out in the heat with me also found a super cute vintage crop top for only $6. But my favorite find at this tent was this mesh flower jacket, the details were so incredible and the fabric was excellent quality. Snagged it for just $15 🙂

Vintage Flower Crop Top

Ok so I broke my ‘no accessory’ vow when I came across Hooti Couture, a classic vintage shop that I learned from my research used to be based in New York City. I tried to resist, but I had no choice – the deals were just too good. I got away with 3 boho style necklaces and an 80’s flower crop top that is never leaving my closet for just 20 bucks. Yasss

Chana Masala

The shopping rush had me hungry, and there was a variety of choices to choose from at The Miami Flea. I was dead set on a lobster roll until I spotted an Indian food tent by the entrance – Zaika Indian Cuisine. I have to say they were serving some fantastic Chana Masala which is a kick-ass Indian chickpea dish that I devoured in 5 minutes. I washed it down with an ice-cold beer from the Coyo Taco tent and kept on browsing around.

Lulus Strawberry Vegan ice cream

I was down to about $8 when I ran into Lulus Ice Cream, and I knew it was pretty much over. I topped off 3 scoops of vegan strawberry ice cream with almonds and coconut shavings – $7. It too was gone in about 5 minutes. On my way back to the car I somehow detoured and I found myself back at Hooti’s Vintage with my last dollar in my pocket. I browsed for another 30 minutes and found an gorgeous vintage suede fringe jacket for just $40. But just as I started to reach for my debit card, but I decided to cut myself off and go home. Plus it was hot. Phew.

Even though I didn’t get to buy from everyone, there were definitely some items I will be coming back for next month. Check out all my photos from April’s Miami Flea below, including photos of some of my favorites finds from The Genesis, Miakoff,  Awasqa Design, My Inner Master and more  🙂
