Mom Diaries: I’m Obsessed with Cartoon Cuts Salon for Kids!

hair care for boys and girls

So as you can see from my many photos on IG, my kid’s hair is pretty long. And big.

His father and I have discussed cutting it for about a year now. We thought about cutting all off completely, dreadlocks, mohawk or maybe have a cool design shaved on the sides. But we have always been all talk, no action.

The truth is, both of us are in love with his has a baby afro. I really don’t think we actually want to cut it.  However,  sometimes we do think about trimming it because it doesn’t exactly grow even.  This baby afro has a mind of its own, believe me.

But just the thought of dragging my tiny toddler into a big man’s barbershop was too much for me.  And there are a few mommy and me type salons out there, but they are catered to girls – not boys.  I wanted to find a place that was kid-friendly, but not super girly. Boys need hair love too!

Thankfully, I heard about Cartoon Cuts, and I was super eager to try them out. Unfortunately,  when the day came for us to go to their Kendall location, Nas was sick and couldn’t come with me. But man, I am so glad I made the drive because this place is amazing! I can’t wait to bring him in for his very first trim 🙂

As soon as I walked into Cartoon Cuts, I realized is a not just a salon, it is an entertainment destination! Not only is the salon colorful and fun, it is also full of distracting things that will keep the kids occupied and the parents stress-free.

Inside, they have a whole play area with activities for the little ones, including video games and art tables.  They also have puzzles, toys, healthy drink and treats – Nas would’ve not wanted to leave!

Each hair station has a small TV and games to keep the kids busy while they get their hair done – I have to say I thought that was brilliant. It also made me wonder why they don’t do something like that for adults? I would love not to have to watch Wendy Williams with the masses every time I get my hair done, just saying.

I thought all the kids looked so cute after they got pampered by the Cartoon Cuts staff. They did a great job with all the different hair types! The girls got some really cool colors and glitter in their hair. And the boys had some really cool designs and cuts! I can’t wait to bring Nas to the Pembroke Pines location.

So Mamas, just because they are kids, doesn’t mean they don’t want to have their own look and express themselves! Kids are not immune to style. People of all ages have individual approaches to their looks, and since we all want the best for our children, why not give them the best cut and style for their hair?

Be sure to check out Cartoon Cuts and tell them HypeGirls sent you! They have quite a few locations in the South Florida area: Kendall, Pembroke Pines, Coral Springs, The Falls and Palm Beach.  Sign up for their mailing list for coupons and other discounts – they don’t over e-mail either 🙂
