How To Make a Chocolate Face Mask At Home

I love chocolate. I mean who doesn’t? According to recent studies, chocolate is actually good for your health – and your skin too! I mean of course it is. Chocolate solves all problems, always.

If you can’t tell already from this blog, I make a lot of stuff! But until recently I hadn’t experimented much with chocolate as a beauty solution, just as a stress solution 🙂

I found a discounted bag of organic raw cocoa powder at my local Ross store – the greatest place on earth to find cheap but good quality foods for these DIY projects! A paid $6.99 and that got me a 12 oz bag – this would be like $14 bucks at Whole Foods. My random purchase prompted me to include it in my next facial experiment – a Chocolate Face Mask.

This mask turned out to be heavenly! I mean it completely detoxifies the skin and leaves you with a fresh glow – you will notice the difference immediately. Extremely hydrating. It leaves the skin super soft and moisturized without leaving any shine. Oh and the best part? Your face will smell like chocolate all day long. I literally wanted to eat my face!

I have been getting more and more DIY requests, please know that I am working on getting our YouTube together for you girls. If you tuned into our Snapchat @HypeGirls last week, then you may have already seen me do this chocolate face mask recipe live. I swear I used no filters – that was the glow I’m talking about! But if you haven’t here is it on the blog so you can have a step-by-step guide whenever you need it.

This recipe takes less than 5 minutes to make and about 20 minutes on the face. So grab your ingredients mama and lets feed your face 🙂

What you need:

1 Tbsp Cocoa Powder

1 Tbsp Olive Oil

1 Tbsp Plain Greek Yogurt

1 Tbsp Raw Honey

1 Tsp Rosehip Oil (or any carrier oil of your choice. Jojoba works well too!)

A paint brush (I got a whole pack at Walmart for $3.99)

How to create:

  • Mix all ingredients in a non-metal bowl and blend well with a fork.
  • Whip mixture  it until it reaches a creamy, thick consistency. Remember cocoa powder is very dry, so make sure you mix it in well so it doesn’t clump up. If it gets too thick, add more yogurt!
  • Once mixed, apply to the face with a paint brush. Be sure to make a nice thick layer like you’re icing a cake 😉
  • Let mask sit on the face for 20-25 minutes. Allow to dry (this does not need to completely dry or get hard)
  • Rinse mask off gently with warm water and pat your face dry.

Let your skin glow! No moisturizer is needed after this mask. Your skin will feel amazing and smell even better. I recommend using this mask if you plan to spend the day make up free or have an photoshoot that requires a natural look. After this DIY treatment your skin a fantastic natural glow so you won’t need much else!

I hope you love this face mask as much as I do! Please share you experience with me on our Instagram @HypeGirls and email any questions to me at nicky@hypegirls.com!
