It’s finally here! The anxiously awaited sophomore studio album from Miguel, ‘Kaleidoscope Dream.’ And what a dream it is! Miguel’s clear voice rings true on each track as he shows off his broad vocal range, and he plays with unique rhythms and arrangements with flair.
Though he is a recognized player in the revival of “real” R&B, Miguel revealed in a recent interview that he doesn’t listen to much within his own genre these days. The Grizzly Bear and the Notorious B.I.G. are currently on his playlist. The eclectic inspiration mix is working: ‘Kaleidoscope Dream’ sets itself apart from anything out right now.
Favorite Tracks:
Don’t Look Back – These lyrics remind me of something Edward – or Jacob, for that matter – might have whispered to Bella. (Yes, I’m a Twilight fan. Go ahead and judge). The homage to The Zombies’ ‘Time of the Season’ adds a captivating touch to this song.
Do You… – How is a song small-venue-intimate and arena-ready at the same time? Both adorable and risque? Miguel pulls it off with this one.
How Many Drinks? – Sensual falsettos over futuristic synths…if all cheesy pick up lines were delivered this way i would be in big trouble.
