Popular beverage brand Pepsi announced today that they will be partnering with Twitter to offer free music downloads! Each and every Wednesday for the next 52 weeks, @Pepsi will offer free downloads from Amazon’s MP3 store to fans who use the hashtag #PepsiMusicNOW in their tweets. The brand will also use Twitter to announce their series of pop-up concerts coming this summer and fall.
Pepsi’s attempt to curate new music for fans is part of will be through their “Live for Now Music” initiative, which is part of the company’s current celebrity-infused “Live for Now” world campaign. “Live for Now Music” will offer free music downloads and release weekly videos containing artist’s information, and whatever music news that is trending on Twitter that week.
The news comes almost a month after Pepsi launched PepsiPulse, a social media-driven interactive dashboard, covering everything pop culture and entertainment. Pop star Nicki Minaj and her popular song “Moment 4 Life” was used to help propel the campaign’s first commercial which launched May 7th. The PepsiPulse platform has helped Pepsi stay relevant in a crowed social space by providing fans with original content, deals and celebrity challenges.
