Summer is in full swing mamas and for some of us, that means plenty of time in the sun and in the water. It also means you are at risk for damaged hair, sweaty skin and sun spots. Yikes.
There are a few ways you can keep your skin in check this summer. First, you can switch to natural skincare alternatives and ditch the chemical stuff. Second, you can protect your skin with sunscreen and light coverups. Third, you can create a summer skin maintenance routine, which includes regular cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing.
But even with all that, you may still find that you experience some serious skin woes – like sun spots. These occur most commonly on the face, but can appear on the body as well. Sun spots often happen when your SPF washes (or sweats) off your skin in some areas and not another. This happens easily when your going in and out of the water or don’t remember to reply once the skin dries.
Sun spots are essentially harmless and will fade over time. But who wants to be spotty all summer long? Enter this bomb ass sun spot removal scrub recipe!
What you need:
[tie_list type=”heart”]
- ½ organic lemon
- ½ c organic cane sugar
- 1 tbsp almond oil
- 1 tbsp raw Honey
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
[/tie_list]
How to Create:
[dropcap]1[/dropcap]Juice the lemon.
[dropcap]2[/dropcap]Then mix lemon juice, honey, apple cider vinegar and almond oil in a medium bowl with mixer on low until you create a medium thick consistency. (You can add in more honey and almond oil if you would like a thicker scrub.
[dropcap]3[/dropcap]Add sugar to your desired consistency (If you feel there isn’t enough sugar to get you enough scrub add more. I suggest using ½ cup of lemon for every ½ of sugar.)
Viola Mama! Your scrub is ready to use 🙂
To Use:
Lightly dampen your skin and apply scrub to in a gentle, circular motion. Make sure you cover the affected area well. Leave scrub on your face for 7-10 minutes and rinse with cool water. Pat skin to dry and follow up with your favorite carrier oil. I find Rosehip oil is the best for skin with sunspots or acne scarring.
You can use this scrub on the face or the body once a day at night. I repeat, only use this scrub at night time when the sun is down. I do not recommend using the scrub more often than that as your skin can become irritated. Also, if you have open sores or cuts on the skin avoid applying the scrub as the lemon will sting! Lasts about 3 weeks.
