Fight Dry Hair This Summer with Sayblee Lime

Summer is basically here, and for me that means lots of trips to the beach, pool parties and water parks with my toddler. My son Nas is a definitely a water baby, I have a hard time turning on the shower with him wanting to get in!

That being said, my original expectations of keeping his mini-afro in check this summer weren’t too high. All that water typically leads to dry, breaking hair for both of us. It sucks.

Not too long ago I was shopping at one of my favorite Miami farmers markets, Legion Park (it’s every Saturday off of 64th and Biscayne), and I came across a booth filled with all natural, homemade hair products.

SAYBLEE is a complete system of 100% natural, non-toxic hair care created by fellow mamapreneur Sayblee Darsale. Hailing from Liberia, West Africa, Sayblee has a cultural understanding of the healing properties of herbs and their many benefits in treating our natural bodies.

Created with a unique blend of essential oils and proteins SAYBLEE was developed to rejuvenate, regrow, and maintain healthy hair. Best part? It is safe enough for kids!

As a mother to a boy toddler with a natural afro that I refuse cut, finding hair products for him can be hard. Mainly because there are a lot of options and also because most kids hair products are geared towards girls – and they smell like it too.

It’s as if no one thought about the needs of baby boys with longer hair. Why? Because we are expected to cut it.

But Sayblee’s products have a natural, chemical-free scent that smells amazing. The Nourishing Lime Oil smells nice and citrusy, but not girly which is why I love using it daily on my son’s thick and poofy hair.

Out of their many great products, the Lime Nourishing Oil was my absolute favorite. For me, the best hair oils are multitasking miracle products. Sayblee’s Lime Nourishing Oil quickly became my son’s leave-in conditioner, frizz serum, moisturizer and shine spray.

I love this product because it can do the job of many hair products in one bottle. Plus I get to use it too. 🙂

To use, simply use the dropper and apply evenly throughout the hair. Then using your fingers, massage gently into the hair while detangling with you fingers. There will be a lot less fussing because the oil gives the hair a little slip, making the process less stressful for you and less painful for your little one! You can also use a comb, but using your fingers is a better way to prevent breakage and damage to the hair.

I like to use this everyday on my sons hair in the morning and before bedtime. Keeps his baby afro healthy and moisturized!

What I love about it:

  • Smells amazing and not too girly
  • Hydrates hair and seals in moisture
  • Makes detangling hair easy and pain free for baby
