All Natural Acne Remedy: Raw Honey Face Mask
Ok, so we all know acne sucks. The good news is, there are tons of natural remedies for acne – tea tree oil, apple cider vinegar, egg masks… the list goes on! Unfortunately, a lot of our skin problems come from the inside, including acne. Acne is typically an internal problem, but we tend to think we can fix it with topical treatments or other chemicals – we can’t! What we eat has a major effect on the way we look on the outside, and if you are serious about improving your skin, it starts with a healthy diet. Natural remedies will always work better if you are eating right!
When used in addition to a healthy diet, an all natural acne remedy can help your skin improve from the outside. Plus is is affordable and easy to make at home!
One of my favorite DIY beauty recipes for acne is a Raw Honey Mask. All you need for this recipe is raw, organic honey, tea tree oil and a tiny bit of vitamin c powder. If you can afford, try using Manuka Honey – it is considered to have more antibacterial benefits than regular raw honey. But it can be quite expensive, and does more good when eaten anyway. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just make sure you are using RAW honey and not regular honey!
Why raw honey? Raw honey is much more gentle on your skin than soap and has natural anti-bacterial properties that are good for your skin. Raw honey also contains valuable enzymes and probiotics that reduce oils and bacteria in the skin – the main cause of acne!
Here’s the recipe for your at home acne remedy, the Raw Honey Mask:
Raw Honey Face Wash Mask
- 1 Tbsp Raw Honey
- 5 drops pure Tea Tree Oil
- Pinch of Vitamin C powder (you can find this on Amazon or at Whole Foods, capsules work just fine!)
***You can also add a couple drops of your favorite essential oil if you want scent – but the honey usually smells good enough!
Mix all ingredients in a non-plastic bowl and store in at room temperature.
To use, wet face with warm water. Place a small amount of the honey mix in your hands, rub together, and gently massage into skin in a circular motion. Leave on for 5-10 minutes and allow it to deep cleanse your pores. Wash off with warm water and pat dry! You can also use this mixture on body acne, just make a bigger batch 😉
If you are missing the tea tree oil and Vitamin C, don’t worry! You can still get most of the benefits by just using the honey alone. You can use this everyday in combination with your regular skin routine. This recipe will rid help your skin fight the bacteria that causes of acne. Combine it with a balanced diet of acne-fighting foods, your skin will really start to glow!
