HypEats: SmashBurger
My SmashBurger cherry has been popped!
Okay, it wasn’t as great as I expected but it wasn’t dreadful. I came in for dinner with a friend after deciding that we would need some fuel for the packing endeavors we had planned for the rest of the night –ah! to be a college student– It was absolutely packed! There were literally people every where, the crowd ranged from college hipsters to children all the way to your sweet little grandma, they all wanted some of the beef! I think the pricing has plenty to do with it as a college student we all know we need to eat, we just do it on a budge so why not go to a cool spot with great prices?
SmashBurger’s cool decor is made with one main purpose and that is functionality; as you arrive you’re immediately placed in line and when your delicious order has been placed you are given a number to place on which ever table you chose. The red and white color scheme breathes life into the otherwise steel establishment. The red leather booths were very comfortable and I’m big on bathrooms, with that being said, being that the establishment only had one restroom containing one facility per gender kind of scared me but it was uber clean. I give it a 8!
I ordered the Mushroom Swiss burger which included garlic sautéed mushrooms, swiss cheese and mayo on an egg bun. I added avocado, although the burger itself fused deliciously with the garlic mushrooms it still tasted like something was missing, I’m not sure what. Maybe a sauce? I didn’t like that they didn’t ask how I would like my burger cooked (medium well) thanks! oh! I almost forgot the burger was huge but they had no knifes to cut the burger in half, uhm strange?
Forks..check. Spoons …. check. Knifes…fail. My favorite was the Sweet Potato Smash Fries cooked in rosemary, garlic and olive oil–ahhhhmazing! I’ll comeback just for that! My friend had the Spicy Baja burger. This burger was made with pepper jack cheese, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, onion, spicy chipotle mayo and fresh jalapeños on a spicy chipotle bun. He added the garlic sautéed mushrooms and made it a double there were no complaints on that side and he could’ve gone for another, so maybe the Spicy Baja is worth a try. SmashBurger has three specialty brewed ice tea’s, I’m not a fan of tea therefore I can’t really give you a thumbs up I will say that mostly anything pomegranate is delicious so you might want to try that.
Happy Eating!
